Herbal healing is the oldest form of healing, reflecting a worldview of aligning ourselves with the earth and looking to her for healing. Up to the twentieth century, people consulted herbalists when sick. Medicine and botany were closely linked, and 80% of medicines came from plants. By 1989, less than 30% were plant-based. The pharmaceutical industry today prefers to isolate the most active ingredients of a plant to create something more refined or more potent. However, strong evidence proves that the whole plant provides safeguards that are missing when particular ingredients are extracted. Even though Western medicine is commonly viewed as the culmination of a long march toward truth and progress, most people have forgotten that allopathic medicine is a relatively recent phenomenon and that “alternative” medicine has been practiced for thousands of years throughout the world. Obviously, surgical technology and allopathic medicine have many benefits, and there are many ways in which it has helped many people, but we must also acknowledge that herbs are an ancient and proved method of healing. (I frequently refer clients to conventional physicians when appropriate.) Consultations usually last 1-2 hours and include a wellness plan specific to your needs.
